The Drought Monitor Germany (by Helmholtz-Centre for Environmental Research - UFZ) provides a comprehensive prediction of the current drought conditions across the country by analyzing data on soil moisture, precipitation, and evaporation. It aids in early detection of drought phases and supports water and resource management planning. Given its broad public interest, it was important to clarify the various definitions of drought. In close collaboration with the scientists behind the drought monitor, I created an infographic that aims to help the general public better interpret and understand the drought maps.
