In 2021, the consortium of the DFG-funded project Cosmic Sense geared up to finalize the proposal for the funding of a second project phase. With the Corona pandemic in full swing, it was clear that the defense, which usually is an in-person event hosted by the applicants and often featuring a field trip to (one of) the research sites, would be differnt this time. In order to make the most of the new online format, the Cosmic Sense consortium engaged me to support them in preparing the video conference and also the proposal itself.
To make up for the missing trip to the field lab Marquardt (Germany), a 10 min video clip was produced, introducing the field site, featuring the work done during the first project phase and presenting the visions for the second phase. The movie was produced in cooperation with the centre of information technology and media management ZIM at the Univertisy of Potsdam. Camera, drone operation, sound recording, animation and editing was done by ZIM staff. I was in charge of narrative and content direction and graphic design.

Besides the branding and video production, I also created and revised figures, designed icons and pictograms for the presentations and assisted some consortium members with design advice. The proposal is not public, but some elements are used on the project website and publications.
The response of the reviewers was very positive and the Cosmic Sense project was funded for another three years. After the close collaboration with the Cosmic Sense team, I was very happy to take over the part-time position as project coordinator for the second phase of Cosmic Sense. In this role, I am involved in the ongoing research, coordinate the team and am also in charge of PR and maintainance of the project website.
